Fidélitas

Overview:           Fidelitas, Latin for faithful, loyal and true, is a family-owned winery on Red Mountain in Benton City, Wash. Fidelitas is faithful to Cabernet Sauvignon, loyal to classic Bordeaux winemaking techniques and true to Washington State’s unique terroir. Fidelitas wines are handcrafted and aged in small lots, creating wines of exceptional character, varietal expression and structure.

Winemaker:      Veteran Winemaker and Owner, Charlie Hoppes, recently celebrated his 24th harvest in the Washington wine industry and produces nearly 7,000 cases of wine for Fidelitas.  Prior to creating his own family label, Hoppes’ experience included serving as the Head Red Winemaker for Chateau Ste. Michelle and Canoe Ridge and was on the start-up team for Three Rivers Winery in Walla Walla.  Hoppes graduated from the Viticulture and Enology program at University of California-Davis.

Vineyards:          Charlie Hoppes has strong relationships with many of Washington’s most reputable growers including: Boushey Vineyard, Champoux Vineyard, Ciel du Cheval Vineyard, Conner-Lee Vineyard, Red Mountain Vineyard, Stillwater Creek Vineyard and Weinbau Vineyard.

Wines:                 Cabernet Sauvignon is the cornerstone of Fidelitas Wines with multiple vineyard designated Cabernets and Cabernet blends.  Other wines include Semillon, a Bordeaux-style white blend, varietal Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc.  Named one of the Top 100 Wineries of 2010 by Wine and Spirits Magazine, Fidelitas scored above 94 with Wine Spectator and Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate in 2009 and 2010 and was included in Seattle Magazine’s Top 100 Wines of 2010.
